Flourishing on the west coast, West Wind Public Market and West Wind Drive-In are spaces for families and friends to have fun together. West Wind Public Market is a lively set of flea markets and swap meets with live music, great food and quality vendors, making weekend shopping a community activity. West Wind Drive-In is the largest drive-in theatre chain in the world with four locations in California, one in Arizona and two in Nevada. Opening their first location in 1952, West Wind has been adopting new technology from the beginning, and was one of the first drive-in theatres to install a large digital projector.
West Wind wanted to improve the overall user interface for both their West Wind Drive-In and West Wind Public Market properties. The main challenge was to provide a design and experience for the user that would incorporate both of their business models. The West Wind team recognized that more users were accessing their websites through a mobile device, so they needed a new design layout that would provide their customers with an improved user experience no matter what type of device they used. Additionally, West Wind needed to improve the process by which they update content and improve their SEO. They were seeking a content management system that could provide exceptional design flexibility while being easily and effortlessly manageable.
Roundedcube implemented Sitecore 8, providing West Wind a clean user interface with a wide assortment of marketing and management tools. This was incorporated in an enterprise architecture for multiple sites belonging to the business. Roundedcube’s creative team provided a design that was responsive across all devices, while maintaining the branding of two different business models. Integrated with CinemaSource, the West Wind Drive-In site is now able to dynamically load information on movies, including all marketing assets, showtimes and Spanish translation. Roundedcube was also able to implement a feature on the West Wind Drive-In site that allows users to plan how they will see a movie and then share that information on their personal social media accounts.
The West Wind Public Market and West Wind Drive-In sites are now both easily manageable for the content authors of both companies. The design captures and evokes fun, the friendly spirit of the venues, attracting customers throughout the area. With the brand new site, West Wind Public Market has established its web presence and continues to see improved traffic and engagement. West Wind Drive-In has seen dramatic improvements for both desktop and mobile traffic, including:
- Nearly an 80% increase in pageviews
- Mobile traffic has doubled
