The Client

Sacramento is the capital city of California and the seat of the government of Sacramento County. The city has an estimated population of nearly 500,000, culturally diverse citizens with approximately 35,000 business.

The Challenges

The website, Cityofsacramento.org, acts as a portal for essential services averaging tens of thousands unique visitors a day. Roundedcube's challenge was to present information and content for the city’s 2,341,006 constituents; through accessibility and readability across all devices. Roundedcube also strived to empower the City of Sacramento employees to create, manage and update content efficiently.

The Solutions

Using Sitecore 6.6, Roundedcube focused on multi-site, multi-language support, multi-user licensing and a flexible .Net architecture. The implementation of Page Editor allowed for multiple content contributors to edit and maintain content, while before the implementation the city’s IT department was back-logged with requests for website updates. Roundedcube used responsive design to provide accessibility and readability across all devices.

In addition to the new city website, Roundedcube further optimized the city’s investment by also incorporating an employee intranet and integration with third party calendar applications.

The Results

The ability to edit and post content without IT support has empowered the City of Sacramento government to engage their users on the web much more quickly and efficiently; and offer additional services and information based on user feedback.
