Based in Chicago, IL, Sara Lee Foodservice is a leading supplier of bakery solutions, providing its products to a broad base of foodservice operators throughout North America including the well know brand, Bistro Collection. The Bistro Collection provides hand crafted, wholesale bakery products, from cakes and rich, creamy pies to smooth cheesecakes and decadent brownies. Bistro prides itself on obsessing over details for their customers dessert experience.
The Challenges
Sara Lee Foodservice wanted to rebrand and re-launch their Bistro Collection bakery products with a new brand website, bistrogourmetbakery.comThey worked with their advertising partners to create beautiful imagery and wanted the new website to be functionally beautiful as well, but also optimized for a very broad user experience on wide screen desktops, tablets and mobile.
The Solutions
Roundedcube leveraged the same Sitecore CMS instance that also powers the Sara Lee Foodservice website and other web properties. The cutting edge user interface design was implemented in Sitecore 6.6. Roundedcube implemented an adaptive design that provides a unique experience for desktop visitors while delivering an optimized experience for mobile visitors as well. The site uses device detection and loads a mobile specific layout with optimized mobile images for faster load while retaining crisp, clear imagery for high-density display devices such as the iPhone 5. The website can be easily printed or shared and PDFs can be dynamically generated on the fly so Bistro Collection customers can access product information, specifications, and nutrition labels offline as well as online.
The Results
The Bistro Collection is about desirability and the new website reflects the beautiful imagery of the brand and its products. Consumers and foodservice operators are able to use the website with ease and content authors are able to deliver a rich experience through the power and simplicity of Sitecore Page Editor. Furthermore, the process of updating nutrition labels has been streamlined by replacing the scanned images of labels with a data-driven solution allowing editors to update labels without graphic design assistance. The new website empowers the sales force to present detailed product specifications and high-impact imagery that conveys the quality of the brand.
