The Client
Based in Chicago, Ill., Sara Lee Foodservice is a leading supplier of meat and bakery solutions, providing value beyond its products to a broad base of foodservice operators throughout North America. Sara Lee Foodservice markets well-known brands as Sara Lee, Chef Pierre and Bistro Collection bakery products and Sara Lee, Jimmy Dean, Ball Park and Hillshire Farm meats. Sara Lee Foodservice products are available in restaurants, retail establishments, schools, convenience stores, healthcare facilities, hospitality venues and other foodservice operations.
The Challenges
Sara Lee Foodservice needed to make significant improvements to their CMS implementation and content model to make it easier to work with and give editors more control. Secondarily, the website UI needed a refresher. Roundedcube was tasked with analyzing the website's user experience and content management experience and strategize which improvements could be made.
The Solutions
After completing the analysis and determining a plan of action with Sara Lee Foodservice, Roundedcube made substantial changes to the content model and architecture of the existing Sitecore CMS implementation, and Roundedcube cleaned up the UI by consolidating design behaviors and patterns, streamlining the color palette and bringing consistency to font style usage. More striking is the complete redesign of the Beverages product section. Roundedcube worked with Sara Lee Foodservice's advertising agency to blend high-impact imagery with intuitive back-end management.
The Results
Sara Lee Foodservice is now much more empowered to update their web content and the user experience has been finely tuned. In addition, the clean-up of the CMS implementation has laid the foundation for major enhancements such as an overhauled Recipes section complete with integration to a back-end Recipe scaler database via web services.
