Tracing its roots back to 1854, Dierbergs Markets is a locally cherished grocery market chain based in Chesterfield, Missouri. Dierbergs employs over 4,000 associates throughout 25 stores in Missouri and Illinois and has a reputation for their hard work and customer service, high quality products, a top rated floral department, a full service pharmacy and a variety of dine-in and catering options to go.
The Challenges
After implementing Sitecore and an intricate ecommerce system many years ago, the out-of-date software and the initial e-commerce integration had numerous performance issues. With more and more customers shopping online, the system’s performance was flagging.
In addition, content managers did not have the tools to provide attention-grabbing content for their audiences. They needed Sitecore to control the look and feel of every section of their website and they wanted content management to be easy and efficient.
With an outdated design and stability concerns, it was time for Dierbergs to get the most from their Sitecore investment.
The Solutions
Roundedcube planned for the project with a phased approach; starting with a major Sitecore upgrade, then following with a full re-architecture and a completely new design. The stakeholders at Dierbergs wanted a design as aesthetically pleasing as Dierbergs’ well-maintained brick -and-mortar grocery stores. Large format photography, content managed backgrounds and a variety of structured content modules allowed content managers freedom within the bounds of an exacting design model. The custom e-commerce built on the Sitecore CMS allows for product management, upsells and user account controls. Roundedcube is also working with Dierbergs to develop advanced analytics and roadmap future enhancements using Sitecore's Experience Manager. Dierbergs will be able to provide personalized content, A/B test their offers and optimize their online sales through the marketing tools Sitecore provides.
Roundedcube provided a content and migration strategy and worked with Dierbergs to implement SEO and social media strategies as a part of an overall strategic roadmap that planned for enhanced features and functionality in future phases.

"It’s Fresh, It’s Friendly, It’s Dierbergs!" Just like the grocers’ tagline, the new website provides customers with a friendly place to find everything they’re looking for. From beautiful product and recipe features to location specific information, Dierbergs.com provides a customer focused user experience. The improved e-commerce experience and updated SEO helped increase sales on their site by nearly 30% one month after launch while overall traffic increased by 15.45%.
Roundedcube and Dierbergs are continuing to work together and are currently focusing on enhancing personalized experiences for the next phase of the strategic roadmap.
